CUBA
I spent a week traveling around Havana, Viñales, Cienfuegos and Trinidad. In this post you’ll find some of my top tips to prepare for a great trip in Northern Cuba including advice for American travelers, mobile apps to make your trip easier, great places to stay, visit and eat.
I am OBSESSED with Havana. There is so much soul to this city and is really unlike any place I’ve ever been before. I knew this was a special place from the minute we arrived.
INDIA
Rishikesh is one of the most relaxing spots in India with a ton of different activities to keep you entertained.
JAPAN
I spent 2 days in Tokyo in January of 2016 and these are some of my observations and tips on traveling to this amazing city!.
MYANMAR
Mt. Popa is home to a large volcanic plug formation with modern pagoda and is a quick day trip from Bagan.
Mandalay, one of Myanmar’s most popular cities has a number of attractions that make it worth a visit.
Bagan, also known as the “land of pagodas” is such a dream. Over 2,000 pagodas varying in size but largely made of red brick are sprawled out across this dry 13 x 8 km farmland.
Tea shops are a core part of life in Myanmar and I stopped and ate at them often during my visits to this amazing country.
Inle Lake is such a peaceful, serene and relaxing oasis in the middle of Myanmar. I highly recommend it as a destination if you are going on a trip to Myanmar.
I’ve been lucky enough to visit Myanmar twice now in 2005 and 2016. In this post I note some of the changes I saw between the two visits and some of my top tips for traveling the country in 2016.
If you are planning to travel between Bagan and Mandalay, and you have time to spare, I recommend taking the slow boat ride to get there.
PHILIPPINES
Tao Philippines
I spent a week sailing around the remote Palawan Islands between Coron and El Nido with Tao Philippines.
The small town of Oslob on Cebu Island is where I snorkeled with some majestic whale sharks.
THAILAND
It was an amazing week trekking with a herd of 4 elephants while visiting and living amongst Karen villagers in a remote area of Northern Thailand.
I spent about 5 days in Chiang Mai and left with a really full stomach and greater appreciation of Thai street foods.
USA
I suggest this trip for anyone visiting San Francisco. It’s a quick trip across the Golden Gate Bridge with incredible views.
This is a great day trip from San Francisco that my friends and I repeatedly go back to. It’s a great Northern California adventure.
