Really one of my favorite favorite places. It has unbelievable views of the city – and it’s amazing to have such an incredible piece of public land right next to San Francisco. Crazy to think that in the 1960s there were plans to turn the headlands into a mini city! But due to efforts from nature conservators, it’s a great spot to escape the city and take some amazing hikes and/or photos.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can actually walk to it from San Francisco – though it is a long walk. You can also bike or drive to the other side of the golden gate bridge (opposite side of SF) and get stunning views of the city, the bridge and the ocean.  While you’re in the headlands, make a stop at Rodeo Beach. It’s gorgeous and is a great starting off point for a hike.
